I had meant to only post the icons once I had iconned every cap I made from this ep. But since I did nothing but iconning yesterday, it's probably safer to post what I have now, in order to take the pressure off. Otherwise I'd be iconning the whole week as if I didn't have other things to do. But it's so nice to feel so enthusiastic about a show again!

A mix of some more old icons and new ones. As apparently the old ones weren't posted anywhere yet (judging by them not being uploaded), I could make a few improvements on some. It was interesting to look back at that time (also '07-09) and how my iconmaking was changing to how I do things now: Keeping layers that aren't visible in the finished icon, but are an important step; naming layers after what I've done with them (Holy shit, how had I not done that before?!) or after the maker if it's a texture; erasing oversharpened parts from sharpened layers and showing the unsharpened layer underneath; using Shadows/Highlights instead of Curves.

I even made a more complex icon (#4) back then! #7 is made from a layout I'd made for my old blog. #10: Hey, Sydney was standing in front of monitors, so of course I had to photoshop the cage porn from Lost 3x06 in. #14 (made 3 years ago) was the first Alias icon I had made in 9 years. Only last month did I properly pick up making Alias icons again. And I finally found a way to make a decent icon of Syd's chain swing (see #22), a moment I'd been wanting to icon since forever. \o/

Somehow I've forgotten to post a fuckload of Alias icons & 3 headers from 2007-09! So here are some old icons (except the ones that made me cringe) showing mostly Syd, a sizeable portion is of Weiss, 3x Jennifer Garner.
Ah yes, my frantic attempt to make icons from ALL the Weiss caps, even if I was out of creativity. #7, 8 & 49 use textures from Muse's The Resistance booklet. #57 has lyrics from the Wir sind Helden song Hände hoch (it means "hands up"), on #76 is my attempt at a ligature of "Julia" and "Sydney". And yes, I know I have an unhealthy obsession with tiny text.

A few older icons in there. Not that old, but they feel as if they're from ages ago. Maybe because they were from when I still considered it sort of cheating to paint bits over with more saturated colors. Thanks to iconcolors (for which some of these icons where made) for changing that!
I had already posted #6 & 21 to icon challenges before I made some coloring changes. I'm still not 100% happy with #7, but 22 turned out the way I hoped (thanks to the aforementioned technique).

I have mixed feelings about this set, because I've been rushing from one icontest to the next, which is apparently bad for my creativity. There are a few icon in here that I'm quite proud of though. #13 & 14 for managing to remove the fan that partially obscured Helena's face. And #17 & 18 (the latter is the still version) for the concept (execution-wise I would have liked a different crop, for which I would have had to photoshop Helena's hand out but didn't have the time). That came about when I was making #16 and noticed that Helena & Sarah (Of all people!) were looking at the camera at the same angle (except that I had to turn one image a few degrees). And as the images are from the same photoshoot, the lighting was almost the same.

icontalking had a resources activity again, so I finally made some again! I thought having masks for airbrushed backgrounds à la Sailor Moon (brush #3 is a version of the doily used in this image) would be cool. This is supposed to be the first in a series, but who knows when I'll get myself to make the other shapes' sets.

I've finally made a Thirteen icon for my "Doctors and their incarnation numbers" set! All except for that one were made for (but not all entered in) dwstills. For the first 3 icons I put the characters into van Gogh paintings. #26 is animated and because I'm taking this stuff too seriously, I had actually downloaded the sound the Sonic Screwdriver makes, played it in VLC with the bandwidth visualisation on and capped it. 👍
