You already have .ljuser img codes in there that are overriding the new code. You need to find the old ones and take them out.

I think I got it working. Just to double check. I have the Sherlock image showing up everywhere, but it's not at the my address bar (usual generic lj user image is there. Is that how it's supposed to be? The image shows up everywhere else on my journal (had to do a lot of deleting before I could have it show up like it should).~Sophia

The CSS is on your journal, so it won't affect the address bar.

The code you posts hotlinks. Would you prefer people save the icons and not hotlink? Or is it such a small file and not hosted here that you really don't mind?

Weeeell, I don't mind if people hotlink ...would probably be better if they didn't, because I don't know how much bandwidth there is for my site (although I haven't seen it run out yet). If you want to be safe, better upload them somewhere.

So, I've never used a userhead, so I'm a bit lost ^^;;

In the comment, you said that if one already has a custom layout css, one has to change the already present ljuser code.

I'm using your Sherlock "The wall had it coming" Layout, and the only place I found that could match is this:
"/* ------- GENERAL ------- */

.ljuser a, .ljuser a:link, .ljuser a:visited, .ljuser a:hover, .ljuser a:active {
font-style: italic;
}"

But replacing the .ljuser lines with the ones you offered didn't seem to change anything anywhere.

Help? (also, just to be sure, we don't need to buy a subscription or anything with LJ to use userheads? (apart from my paid account) )

That code you found is only for the text link, so you don't need to replace it.
LJ recently changed something about the userhead code :o/. I just changed the code in this entry, so copy and paste that again. And replace .ljuser img with .ljuser img[src*="userinfo.gif"], .ljuser img[src*="community.gif"] (otherwise it won't work properly).

Nah, bought userheads work differently. They only show in front of the username of the person who bought it.

Ummmm... I pasted your new code but I don't have the Sherlock userhead anywhere. It worked well some time ago but I can't make it work now... I see a few different userheads but not Sherlock.

Since LJ did that update, using only .ljuser img doesn't work anymore. You need to have a square bracket after it, like so:

.ljuser img[src*="userinfo.gif"], .ljuser img[src*="community.gif"]

It's all right. I bought it from lj. I didn't know I could find it there too.

I would like to stop hot-linking and upload everything somewhere. Where do you suggest I upload them?(I'm really illiterate when it comes to these things)

Hm, I don't know which image hosts are good. I guess for small pictures Photobucket would do, but they resize big pictures (no idea if they still do that). I think even with a basic account people now have a gallery to which they can upload up to 1GB.

I'm asking about the photos from your layout that I should link to. I'll have to find the urls in the code. Upload them and then change the url in the code...

in the layout, but they're in the CSS more than that. The easiest thing to do is to use the search function and look for "url(".
